Did DJ Moore drop a hint about who the Bears QB will be in 2024?
Chicago Bears WR DJ Moore doesn’t sound like he’s expecting a quarterback change in 2024.
Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore held his 2023 exit interview with GM Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus on Monday, and he confirmed that the topic of Justin Fields came up.
“I bored him up, of course,” Moore said. “I mean, he’s the quarterback of the Chicago Bears until otherwise.”
That “until otherwise” part is what Bears fans care about most. Will Justin Fields be the quarterback in Chicago until the end of a second or third lucrative contract? Or has he already played his final down as a starter in a Bears uniform?
Moore’s comments certainly sound like he thinks Fields will remain QB1 for the Chicago Bears.
“I don’t think that’s changing anytime soon. We’ll see,” he said.
Moore should certainly hope Fields returns to the Bears in 2024. He enjoyed a career-year catching passes from him to the tune of 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns.
‘Nobody really wants to start all the way over and either having a losing season again or maybe have a (winning season),” Moore said. “You never know. It’s a hit or miss. We’re going to have to wait and see.”
One thing is for sure: the Chicago Bears offense won’t look the same in 2024. Even if Justin Fields returns next season, it’s unlikely offensive coordinator Luke Getsy will. At least, he shouldn’t.
The good news is Poles and Eberflus are allowing players to voice their opinions, and Moore took advantage of his chance to share his thoughts about the offense.
‘It was open and honest,” he said. ‘I gave good feedback. They gave me their honest opinion on how my year went and everything. That’ll stay between us until it comes out later on and y’all see what happens. We’ll see.”
What do you think, Bears fans? Should Justin Fields return as the starting quarterback in 2024? Or should the Bears select Caleb Williams or Drake Maye with the first pick?
